What a “Thank You”! … “They thank you and I thank you” Peter Pappas, The Oasis Sanctuary

Recently, Koolfog got some “feel good” feedback from one of our special clients in Arizona giving us a special summer boost knowing that what we do best…matters.

Our Koolfog teammates take pride in providing superior technology and engineering for our cooling systems to create comfortable homes for our animal friends.

The Oasis Sanctuary is a life-care facility for captive Exotic birds. It is a refuge for over 600 avian species including parrots, cockatoos, macaws and other Psittacine birds.

The Oasis Sanctuary is located in the San Pedro River Valley just South of Tucson, Arizona and is known for its riparian eco-system making it a great habitat for birds. The area is also considered one of the most significant migratory flyways in the Southwest.

However, the desert climate can get extremely hot jeopardizing the health of nature’s wildlife. You might not think of birds getting heat stress but it is a common and serious situation. Most avian species do not have sweat glands and their feathers keep moisture from quickly evaporating from their skin. The feathered layers that insulate each bird’s body can actually deter the release of heat causing life-threatening dehydration.

With the importance of maintaining the health and welfare of the birds in their care, The Oasis Sanctuary installed Koolfog animal cooling systems to keep their “residents” comfortable. Their aviaries have been equipped with state of the art high-pressure misting systems to cool the birds without saturating the environment. This year’s addition – a thermostat and 24 hour clock to control the system to achieve optimum ambient temperature for the shelters.

The success of our outdoor cooling systems in this haven for fragile birds shows us that as humans we can make a difference in sharing our world with animal wildlife.
