Atmospheric Fog Effects and Light Technology Tell the Story of Times Past
Koolfog is working with Outside the Lines (OTL) designers engaged by landscape architects Kimley-Horn to produce a dynamic public art sculpture and water fountain concept set directly opposite the Trinity Mills train station. A media piece in the Carrollton Leader states, “The feature’s designer, Chris Roy, creative design director at Outside The Lines, said the feature is meant to be a historic, modern piece that gave homage to Carrollton’s history being the intersecting point of three major railroads while creating a feature that is seen nowhere else in the world. The fog effects and light installations play to the days when steam engines were used in locomotives and freight trains. The fog effects from the fountain poles would catch the light and conjuring imagery similar to steam from a 19th century engine catching surrounding lights.”
This original sculptural fountain will consist of a large pool set with 20-foot tall, vertical, poles that oscillate up and down while streaming water in a wave-like motion. Dichromatic glass blades set atop the pole structures will change colors with special lighting, highlighted with fog effects. The technology uses automated program controls that will sync to produce different light shows as well as display colors associated with special events and honorable occasions.
The water feature at Trinity Mills Station will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area but will serves as a symbol of the city’s commitment to creating attractive public spaces. It is anticipated to foster a sense of community and connection among residents and visitors, as well as provide for a gathering place for people of all ages to enjoy.
Whether you’re a commuter passing through or a local looking for a tranquil spot to escape the daily grind, the water feature, and its unique lighting and fog effects, will be a testament to the power of thoughtful urban planning and design, offering a refreshing and welcoming retreat.
