Dear Valued Customer,
Proposition 65 became law in November 1986, when California voters approved it by a 63-37 percent margin. The official name of Proposition 65 is the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.
There are over nine hundred (900) chemicals on the Proposition 65 list (https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list) and many Koolfog products and third party components supplied by Koolfog have one or more of the listed chemicals in it. For example, steel, brass, rubber and most machined metals have small amounts of the listed chemicals in them.
The Prop 65 warning does not mean that suddenly our products will cause cancer or reproductive harm, nor does it mean that the products are in violation of any product safety standards or requirements. However, Koolfog has determined that conducting the necessary testing to certify that exposure levels are beneath the Proposition 65 standards on all
products would be difficult, costly and time consuming. Therefore, Koolfog has instituted a company-wide policy to appropriately label all products that are shipped to or sold to consumers in California with the required Proposition 65 warning language.
